You can only ever have one copy of the yellow gene Ay - Ay/Ay mice are not viable and don't survive The yellow gene makes red when heterozygous with agouti or black (Ay/A or Ay/a) and makes sable when heterozygous with tan (Ay/at)
I think she's referring to RY (recessive yellow) since she's in the US and they don't have many Ay mice except those that imported from the UK. Any mouse can be obese though, it's not always to do with colour although many times it is.
