Hello,
these past few days i have been putting my doe and buck together for a few hours every evening in hope that she will get pregnant.
However i don't really know what normal mice do when they first meet.
They first started sniffing each other and she didnt seem interested etc,
but he it seemed was getting inpatient and kept trying to mount her and squeaking. This will be both there first go at breeding and mine so i don't know what to look for.
He gets more aggressive but doesn't bite or fight her just keeps chasing her around his cage. he also it seems nibbles at her fur and face etc.
Can you help me out and tell me what's normal.
I don't want them to fight but i want babies meece!
will a doe usually just present herself or does she play hard to get like this??
thankss

You'll find it a lot easier if you move the doe into the buck's cage for a couple of weeks ;)

Males are very, very rarely agressive to females, it's more common (although still rare) that a female will attack the male. As with all mouse introductions if there's no blood don't worry!

They way ou're doing it is more common with rabbits or dogs or other critters where you can tell they are ready (though with rabbits they are almost always ready lol they are induced ovulators). You need to at least leave them together the bare minimum of 5 days and that cuts down your chances of success a lot, the longer they are together, the more likely she will get preggers. Good luck.

So true, it actually hurts! ;) Luckily our male mounted the females head *phew*
I think as suggested, leaving them for 5days will be more sufficient. Mine have been together for 1 day and are getting quite friendly now
