There has been some discussion on a dutch forum.

What do you think this colour is?

My guess was a champagne ('as in:light brown with a pink tint' -> FM )
"The colour should be that of champagne silk with a pinkish tinge, free from mealiness and well carried out under. Eye pink."
-> finn mouse club
I think this describes the colour.

But others say it's siamese. In my opinion a siamese must have points - something this young bucks do lack.

Who can end this discussion? :)

Thanks!

on my screen it does look champagne ... It could be a Siamese as well (Siamese is a marking) It does slightly look like it has points in the photo.
It still looks very young so you might see the points darken up with age and if it does then I think you will have a satin champagne Siamese.

These look champagne to me. I suppose it's possblie to have a champagne shaded siamese. These are young mousies? If so, the points, if they are there, should darken or could be induced to darken by adjusting the temp of the environment, I forget which way, lower or higher....

I really like them!

This color is what I had been taught a champagne should look like, though the English have a different idea about these things.

I agree that it's definitely champagne as described above, though I certainly don't see any points yet. :book Siamese points are expressed where the skin is cooler, thus on the extremities, the nose, ears, feet, tail. It hadn't occurred to me that you could lower the temp of the room they're kept in, thus cooling the mouse, and inducing darker points when they molt. That's brilliant! I wonder if cats molt the way mice do, so you could do that to cats. :?:

Hey Nath,

I dont think they are champagne, cause if you look at the genetics it's very very very unlickely!! I also have a siamese girl who still needs to get her points! It's also because of the weather here.. When it's cold siamese develope their points faster

Hi Soleya;

I think Iaoshu is right, if he would get points later on, it's a siamese champagne.
But for now still no points.

When I look at the mother's pedigree; her father looked just like them. And he also never had points.
I can show you the pedigree line.

I'm really curious why you think it wouldn't be possible (alright, unlikely like you say, but not when you know her pedigree). Champagne is basically genetically a pink eyed chocolate. I know the breeder I've got the mother from used it for her splashed line. I wouldn't say it's unlikely at all in this case.

But nevertheless I still think they're handsome.
And a discussion like this is usefull to see things from another point of view.

I'm still curious if they will get points, but I doubt it ;) :)

I'm keeping one, so I'll let you know...

Yes indeed they're very gorgeous..
I thought she was from splashed parents, so that means there are c-genes involved, that made me think champagne isn't really likely.. Siamese champagne sounds already more likely.

Some here also said that the siamese girl I ment, could be choco siamese, then te points won't develope or they do but you cannot see.
I'm very curious if you keep one how it'll grow up ;)

They are Siamese. You can see brown skin on the ears and tail, champagne has pale flesh coloured ears and tails. There is also a small point on the nose. Points come through pretty slowly, they''ll start appearing between 5 and 7 weeks and get stronger.

A champagne Siamese (a/a b/b ch/ch p/p) would look like a PEW.

Ooh, now that you mention it, SarahY, I see it in the top pic, particularly on that left ear. Really brownish ears! Looking at my chams, they all have those pinky ears, no brown tint at all, so that must be the beginnings of the points.
