Decided that Variegated are definately going to be the variety I'm focusing on for shows (still thinking about taking up black tans as the second).

Anyways, I now a few Variegated, all from Dave Bumford (2 bucks and 2 does), and I'm wanting at least 1 other buck from a seperate line and a couple of does from another line to add to mine, preferably ones with no possibility of being related to Dave's. I'm wanting good quality stock and preferably at least one mouse with the patterning reaching underneath and spreading to the belly. Big ears would also be greatly appreciated.

I swear I was introduced to someone who bred Variegated at the Harrogate show, but I've completely blanked on who it was as my brain is terrible so if anyone knows, that would be great. And if anyone has any Variegated and is a little further south, I will be travelling down the country to Buckinghamshire at the beginning of March so could pick up mice on my way back home if anyone is close to any of the places I pass (Sheffield, Derby, Birmingham New Street, Leamington Spa -will be stopping here anyway-, Banbury -can divert to oxford if needed-, High Wycombe). I will also hopefully be attending the Manchester shows (April 2nd and Nov 5th) and the Sowood shows (May 14th and Nov 26th) later in the year.

Many thanks.

You are much, much better off keeping to the one line. Mixing in another line could ruin what you have and what Dave's worked hard to achieve. Bringing in unrelated mice at this stage will cause so many more problems than benefits! You won't need to outcross for quite a few generations and when you do, you'll want to go back to Dave Bumford for more stock and get a related outcross rather than a completely fresh outcross.

Okay, thanks Sarah. I have been wondering what outcrossing was, I thought it was crossing into a whole different variety, not crossing lines, so thank you for clearing that up. I will stick with Dave's then. Thanks you three!
