The UMC has officially gotten the go-ahead from Rodent Fest to host a show this time around!
Please make sure you stick to the health check rules of RF if you are attending, that is 3 week quarantine, no new animals into your home during that time, and no sick animals!

You may preregister your mice by emailing me their information, or register your mice at the door at RF.
My email is [email protected]

The information we'd need for pre-reg is as follows:
Your name:
Your Mousery name and Prefix:
Mouse's sex:
Mouse's variety: (include colour, coat type, and markings)
Mouse's name or number:
Kitten: Yes or no

Registration sheets will be handed out at the door at RF.
REGISTRATION IS FREE!

Please donate to the UMC if possible, we're putting money into the show ourselves, as well as website hosting, print outs, cards, a banner, etc! Since we are not set up for membership fees as of now, any donations are very much appreciated!

The show will begin around 3pm at Rodent fest, April 28th.

PLEASE BE THERE TO SUPPORT US!

If you have any questions, please ask! This is our first time running a show, so we're trying our best. :)
This show is meant to be FUN an enjoyable! Even if you don't think your mouse is a show winning champion grade mouse, please enter them anyways! It'll let you know what you need to improve on! :)

Thanks!

ANY show/event is a risk  If you want to keep your animals safe, you keep them at home. That goes for ANY gathering where animals are sharing airspace, even NMC shows.
Very well said, and an extremely important point I think many people forget. Show animals get sick, it happens, when it does you cut your losses and either treat or cull the animal, you don't ban the show because of an attendee who either didn't know their animals were ill or didn't care.

That said I should be attending, just need to make sure I have off of work. I don't know if I'll have anything worthy of entry in the show, I'll try but if not I can at least enter a few class fillers :D .
We'll definitely needs some class fillers, enter anyone you want! :D

And we also have a separate BIS award for coat, so you can enter some of your angoras, and could win a BIS!
The coats get judged to the same standards as the other mice, but are awarded separately. :)
Silly question.
I'm only a few generations in and I know I don't have any winners , but would it be a good idea to bring in one of my better mice
to see where I am and where I need to improve? (entering in the show)
Or would it just be a better idea to come and watch without entering?
It would be great to enter your mice, especially since this first show will have free entries!
The following shows will have entry fees of $2-3, so it may seem like a waste later on, but for this show everyone is welcome to enter even if they only want an evaluation. :)

You will receive a score sheet with all the information about your mouse, broken down in several different ways, as well as comments about how you can improve. :)
I will be coming too, but mainly to watch. I don't think I will have any mice to bring. I have never been to a rodentfest so I am delighted. Will there be gerbils? My partner is mad for gerbils! LOL!
There have been gerbils before, it isn't unusual. :)
There are always mice and rats, usually hamsters and guinea pigs. Often times there are other species of rodents like spiny mice and African Soft Furred rats, but those depend on the laws on PA, some years they're okay and others they're not. Lee Simms (I provided her email address) will be able to answer those questions for you, on legalities. :)

Gerbils were there last time I think. :)
You can also post that you're looking for gerbils, and you might find someone who has some, but didn't think to bring them! You can also try advertising for RF on Gerbil forums, it would be nice to get the gerbil community more invested in RF. :)
Do you have a flyer made? I am going to a big gerbil show next weekend at the Baltimore PetExpo. It's one of the biggest gerbil shows on the East Coast apparently. People are driving in from several states away. I can spread the word there too.
There are sometimes gerbils there...but not always.

That all depends on whoever is spoken to at the dept of fish and game and what they decide is ok at any given time...the way the law is written, technically any mammal (not bred within the state for a certain period of time) that's not a normal lab animal (rat or mouse), dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, or regular livestock animal, is illegal..........but it is enforced very wierdly
If you email Lee Simms, she has flyers you can spread out! :)
Advertising there would be great!
I really wish I could make it (I miss attending mouse shows so much!), but I've already committed to going to GenCon this year and I can't afford two trips. :(

Is anyone from the WI/IL/MN area going and willing to transport some mice back for me? I'd be happy to chip in for gas! :)
