Buy one, and tell her it can talk, mention the fact that it ordered you to buy it, and to love it very much. Also, become a master ventriloquist :) Works everytime!

Get the dog then tell her if she feels she can't live with another dog you'll help her find a really nice flat.

My current method is to just get naimals and not tell my OH, I dont think you could hide a collie puppy but might be worth a try.

lol Get charlie to show her the puppy when you bring it home, teach him a script that says " Oh mummy its SO cute, mummy awwwwwe mummy cant we keep it....." and then poke your head around the corner and promise to clean up all the poops and wet patchs till its potty trained lol sorted!

AMEN! Tricking your partner is no solution. You both need to be on board for a new dog. And yes, collies are SUPER high energy and if you don't have a job for them...they will make one up themselves, and you WON"T like it! They can be very distructive and yappy, and can make your life miserable. You both need to be very committed to have this happen.
I suggest you hold off until you are both ready.
