I bought 5 female mice from the petshop. one `female`turned out to be male and i quickly returned him. 2 weeks on and i`m pretty sure one of my girls is pregnant. is it safe to leave her with the other females or will they harm the babies? As far as i can tell they aren`t pregnant so i got the male out in time

I find that the babies often get eaten in this scenario. It's not so risky when the others are expecting. If you are not desperate to keep the pinkies you could risk it but if you really want them it would be best to provide her with her own cage.

I will let you know. I must admit i didn`t get the mice to breed with, but i am looking fwd to having mouse babies as it`s been over 20 yrs since my last litter of mice. the mouse that i strongly suspect is pregnant ( not 100% certain) is my tamest one so hopefully i will have some lovely tame babies. I will keep the females, and a friend of mine wants the males ( she rescues animals and adores baby mice) so all will have homes, which is a relief. just have to learn how to sex them!
