Lily had her first litter last night. 6 babies in total and am well proud of her. But i thought she would spend pretty much all of her time with the babies, but i sometimes find her sleeping a little bit away from the nest. Is this normal?

I just don't like the thought of her neglecting them.

My fiance says he's seen her go to them off and on. but i just thought she would spend like 95% of her time with her babies.

I checked the babies this morning. Mammy mouse was sitting just about an inch from the nest. All the babies are nice and pink and moving when i uncovered the top of the nest. so i'm happy. They're 2 days old today :) i think tomorrow i'll handle them, give them a quick check over and do a bit of a clean up in the cage...mams got it a bit messy with food EVERYWHERE!! probably as she's being spoilt with foods with that bit extra protein in it. Mother mouse is looking good but a bit sleepy. considering i've only had her since March 30th she's amazingly tame and seems to like the attention i give her, even tho she's just given birth. She still likes to have a tickle near her ears. I'll try and get some pics uploaded of mam and babies tomorrow so you can see.

Thanks for your replies. I've got another female who is pregnant, can't wait til she has her babies!!
