I have a couple mothers in each tank, who've been taking care of their 7 day old babies. Is it possible to exchange babies from one tank to the other without it going wrong? Will the mothers care for them like they would there own or would they kill them?

That's pretty iffy, I would think. When I have fostered pinkies, I always put them in a small container with bedding from the nest they'll be going to, to make them smell like their new home. Then I slip them in, after distracting the other doe with a treat, preferably at the other end of the tank, or even out of the tank. I put them under the other babies, mixed well with the bedding, so hopefully the doe won;'t notice or smell anything amiss when she returns. I've had pretty good results, say about 8 times out of 10. Sometimes they are promptly killed, sometimes they seem OK, and are gone the next day.

It works better with litters that are of about the same number of days old. I have had a couple of does who would accept babies regardless of where they came from or how many days old they were at the time of fostering. That was pretty cool!

Why do you need to exchange some babies?
Its very iffy and I wouldnt risk it unless its needs to be done(fostering, etc)
