Is this boy called a brindle or is he more agouti? I don't see any definite stripes.

He looks a different colour at both ends lol. But with the dark dorsal stripe I'd go with brindle myself. We don't have the same type of brindle here but we have agoutis and I've never seen one look like that.

It might be a sable pied mouse.

I did wonder about that but they don't have our red (Ay) generally speaking in the US, so unless sable can be made another way it's not a sable.

your most likely right then.I've been trying to make fawn dutch and got loads that look like the mouse in the pic.Fawn ones sadly lacking

THANK YOU! It's been driving me crazy looking at all these really nice mice and trying to compare colors. It's really hard when you have no idea what your doing! VBG

So what should I breed him to in order to figure out what he is, or does it even matter? I really got him because of the long hair more than his color.

I don't really see long hair on him. I don't think he is long haired.
And you shouldn't need to breed him to find out what he is, i can nearly promise you he's a piebald agouti brindle.

OK great thanks. I'll get some more pics to show his coat length as it is definitely longer than any of the others. Do mice that carry for long hair still have really short hair or is it a little longer than normal? Or are there long hairs who do not have good long coats?

He looks long hair to me, just a very poor example. I would say agouti brindle banded long hair. (You're lucky to have banded without a head spot!)
