how to stop mice from fighting?

a few months ago i took some to-be-exterminated house mice from behind my stove and took care of them in this tank here. they were four younger mice who cuddled all the time but have since grown into adults and have started fighting more frequently. i am not sure if they are girls or boys, they are super wild so are hard to handle. I would like to make a better stress-free area for the mice but i do not have much money. (i do have more terrariums.) Should i put more hides in there? more bedding? separate them entirely, any advice appreciated 🐭

I would move two of them to another terrarium and that might reduce some of the fighting. Putting more bedding and hides is a good idea to keep them from having a lot of stress. Because you don't know what ones are males and females there is always a risk they will breed with each other.

i put them in a clear tub to check, im almost certain i have 3 boys and 1 girl. Im not really sure how to separate them in that case. I will put a lot more hides in there to make sure they cannot chase each other. the only times they ever fight is over good food like cheese, or when their tank has been disturbed too often like when i clean it. thank you for your help!

Yep, it does look like 3 boys and 1 girl; and what those boys will fight over even more than good food like cheese is... yep, that's right you got it. All the hides in creation won't prevent her from coming into heat. They should stop when she has been impregnated, but then as soon as she drops her litter she will go into heat again and they will fight again. You need to figure out what you're gonna do cause without human intervention -- fast forward a few weeks/months you're gonna have dozens/hundreds of mice. Have fun :)

I have 4 mice in a cage 100x80x40cm.
Got them all at the same time from young.
There is one dominant one that is causing a bit of fighting and seems to pick on one at a time biting it alot on the back area
What can I do about this?
The cage is massive, ive put multiple water and food bowls, there's plenty of tunnels, and wheels and houses them and ropes and different levels
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
