I'll be back. said:
Its not ideal at 8 weeks but it will be fine, in a few days move her to her own house and feed her well, no handling from the kids and enjoy the litter when it comes
and give her a lot of animal proteins and vitamins to support her development. If the litter is big, reduce it to not more than 4, this gives the mother the chance to have enough energy to grow herself.

... and give the kids some feedback

Don't overfeed her; she will probably be OK, but at her age, delivering overly large babies may cause problems. She will be shy of three months when she throws her litter, and only about 1/2 to 2/3 of her adult size. She should be given just a little extra food high in collagen, lowish in fat but don't over do the extra food.

I'm late to the table on this one, but I wanted to share a similar incident where my youngest sister did the same thing with my rats. It was waaaay back when I still lived at home and she decided to have a "rat party" and let them all run around the room together. I found her in my room with everyone running around and about killed her on the spot. I found all the rats except Ozzie and Blaze until I heard a weird noise and found them under the dresser humping away. Blaze had 12 babies... oy vey. ;)

I have four Daughters, all animal nuts, when they were young, I used to Bribe/if pressed pay them to clean out the mice, and in another shed the Rats. As the rats were theirs, they decided a far better method was to let them all out of their cages in the shed floor then they could clean out much faster. This was true, however the result on one particular weekend was nearly a 100 babies. Another particular good idea, yes gemma you know who you are, was rather than walk (agreed, 11 acre garden) to the hose pipe that was a long way away would fill all the water bottles with water out of the shed water butt, one that I had been topping up with copious amounts of rabbit poo for the purpose of producing better veg. No harm done but was spotted in time.

It was agricultural land next to the house, and a site of
special scienfic interest, rat shed was in the far far corner as it got rid of the kids for hours on end, couldnt even hear the little s==ds. lol moving to a very small cottage soon. Much prefer a shed full of mice than a field full of large animals.
