I am really confused about these 3 "breeds" are they all seperate breeds or is texel and rex the same name for the (RE) gene and if so how come the Astrex carries the (RE) gene but looses it's curls.
I can understand the confusion, but as I understand it;
Rex is a close short haired curled coat (Re/*) ,
Texel is the long haired rex (Re/* go/go) ,
Astrex has a looser coat then the rex and also has a tendency to lose its curl as it gets older (Re/Re Go/* Sa/*) http://www.hiiret.fi/eng/breeding/varieties/SHSA.html
Re = rex
Go = Short hair
go = Longhair
Sa = Standard
sa = Satin
Hope I got this right and it helps
