When you take mum out you can have a peek at bubs, just rub your hands in the bedding and gently pull back the nest 
this is what I do I handle mine at day 2 when mum is not in the cage and do a check of them all to find out how many does and bucks i've got If she is eager to get out then thats your best chance to have a little peek
